Our Mission
The Iron Torch seeks to motivate citizens to protect and strengthen democracy against the threats of authoritarianism, disinformation, and political manipulation. More than a platform for information and planning, we are a collective voice for democracy—a space where informed citizens can share perspectives and strategies for preserving our freedoms.
Our mission is not just to defend democracy as it exists but to improve it. We advocate for meaningful reforms: enhancing transparency, reducing political gridlock, removing money from politics, strengthening checks & balances, and protecting voter rights.

Empowering Citizens
In an era where propaganda and misinformation cloud the truth, we embrace facts and history to understand issues threatening our democratic institutions and freedoms. We provide historical insights, analysis of political trends, recommendations for reform, and strategies to help citizens recognize manipulation and hold their leaders accountable.
While we acknowledge the need for systemic changes, we believe that empowering people—rather than concentrating power in the hands of a few—is the path to a stronger, more resilient democracy. We strongly oppose any shift toward authoritarianism or oligarchy and instead, aspire to a democratic republic built by and for the people.
United for a Stronger Democracy
While The Iron Torch approaches topics with a center-left perspective, we fact-check our work and promote critical thinking beyond partisan lines. We believe in transparency and integrity, thereby disclosing our leanings to readers, while striving to cover topics with fairness and respect for diverse viewpoints.
All contributors are vetted to ensure content aligns with our commitment to truth and constructive action. We encourage respectful dialogue where people from different backgrounds can come together, united in purpose, to learn, discuss, and advocate for a democracy that serves everyone.

About the Founder of The Iron Torch
I’m Amy McNeil, a news enthusiast and political junkie who cares deeply about the direction of our country. My concern for growing authoritarianism, coupled with a desire to fight disinformation and support reforms, inspired me to create this site. With a center-left perspective, I aim to foster content that promotes critical thinking and bridges the divide, focusing on what unites us in the fight for a more perfect union.
